Water Resources Department is one of the key establishments of Government of Bihar. It was formerly known as Irrigation Department. Right of state in sharing water of Inter State Rivers/Basins are in the domain of this Department.
Construction, maintenance, regulation of major and medium irrigation project, command area development, Flood control, and Flood Management Information System are under the ambit of Water Resources Department.
